Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas is one of Austin’s most established youth mentorship organizations, connecting young people with caring adult mentors who help them navigate life and reach their potential. While their mission is well known, the dedicated team working behind the scenes to make it all happen rarely gets the spotlight.
BBBS is accustomed to photography that centers on the kids and their mentors, the heart of their mission. This shoot had a different goal: to turn the camera on the Austinites behind the organization itself. The challenge was capturing the personality, dedication, and humanity of a team that spends most of its time making sure others shine.
The shoot took place at the BBBS Central Texas office, using their own environment to ground the imagery in authenticity. We led with a cover shoot that put the team front and center; polished enough for a magazine cover, but warm enough to feel approachable. From there, we moved into candid moments throughout the office, capturing the culture and character of a group of people who show up every day for Austin’s youth.
